I've got the same boat, can't help you with the fuel capacity because I replaced my tank. Anything else and you can send me a P/M

Thanks Guys for the quick response, Is it worth it to fix, hatches, spray nozzles, center console, etc. Boat is ten yrs old and needs common repair, runs great but looks so so.Can you find all the items or should I just buy new Hewes. Don't want to start project if I can't finish. Also needs to be painted how much is that? Gelcoat is faded on one side. Please help with info. I can finance new boat but shelling out 5-10 thousand cash for repairs is another story

Thanks Tom

i doubt you would have that much in it...but i don't know...you have nothing in it now, because it belongs to you! SO GET TO WORK, I SAY!!! plenty of folks who have gone through everything you could imagine on one of these boats...

good thing is, you won't have to replace any wood....repaints aren't that hard, livewells can be fixed....etc. if it runs good, everything else can be fixed! right?

those hatches are the part that would be difficult, well to most anyway. but you might get lucky and find the ones you need..

....mine was pretty clean when i got it, it has a few slight issues....

but look at it this way....if you paid 3k for it (which you haven't)....and put around 8-9k adding things and fixing things and refinishing things.....then you've got 11-12k in a boat, that will outlast anything you will find for 15k brand new.........

also, this is a 19....which is a very nice looking, nice riding hull....and with a 150, very speedy....

10-16k...that's about what they go for in good shape, and various add-ons....the lappy bayfishers, that is...

I took boat to Gerry's Marina in NSB, a Hewes dealer and they wouldn't even try to fix Spray nozzles saying that they would have to cut into livewells to replace nozzles??? Also I wanted a Jack Plate and they said the 1997 Yamaha SWS 2 would not accept a Jack Plate????? Does that even make since??? I bought the boat from them, the only thing they would do was 3 bank charger and 100 hr service. Are they feeding me BS.

Thanks Tom

might be time to get 'hands on'.....

i know the spraynozzle in the back bait well (the only one i have on my boat, how do you have 3?) on mine is easily accessable through the inspection hatch in stbd. side compartment...might be different on yours.

now that bottom drain....oooooo. that would be a tough one..

or if time, patience, skills, etc....are in short supply....might try to sell it to an ambitious type, turn around and buy another, more complete jobby.....i guess it all depends. if you like the boat, and it suits your needs, hmmmmmm

I have 3 livewells, one in front one behind my seat and one on left rear, all 3 nozzles leak when in motion unless I turn off ball valve in back. The hatches are not broke just the hardware is bent and the seat leans back farther then it should because hinges have wore into the fiberglass about 1 inch. What about the Jackplate? Is the 1997 SWS 2 not able to accomadate a Jackplate? Thanks inadvance.

Tom,

The boat will accept a jackplate. On the livewell, it sounds as if you need to just replace the sprayheads.

Slyshon,
I was told by the Hewes dealer in my town that to replace the spray heads they would have to cut into my livewells and they also told me the type of engine I have would not accept a Jackplate. 1997 SWS 2 150 Yamaha. I was told the hydralics on the front of the motor would hit the Jackplate and that I needed a newer motor. This is my first boat and I don't know that much about the ins and outs. I wanted a Hewes dealer to do the work but maybe I will have to go elsewhere? I will take pics and send soon.

Thanks Tom

Maybe it has to do with the brand of jackplate they sell. There are other few different manfactures out there.

Hurricane,
There is nothing wrong with my style of engine? I really want a Jackplate, and a Jackplate is cheaper than a new engine and a Jackplate. Thanks inadvance for your info.

I don't think there is anything worng with your motor. I see no reason why you should not be able to put a jackplate on.

BS, no issues with installing a jackplate on your engine. As for the sprayheads, if they are the factory installed ones, they simply unscrew.
